Happy 4th of July, Holliston

by Bobby Blair 7/4/12

(Originally published July 4, 2010)

Holliston has helped build this nation we call the United States since before the Revolution -- reminders in town abound. From its earliest days, the town was built around the church.

Holliston Minutemen answered the call on April 19th 1775...

During the war between the states 45 men enlisting from the Town of Holliston did not return alive...

Four including Pvt. Wheeler died in southern prison camps.

Charles F. Duford was the first Holliston man killed in World War I.

We live as free people with certain rights...

Lest we forget, freedom is not free --

All gave some, but some gave all...

Long may she wave...

Interesting and informative. We lived in Holliston for 43 years and did not remember some of this history.

Great thumbnail history of our town's part in our quest of and protection of our freedom. Thanks for the memory jog. Snowy
