Superintendent Brad Jackson Elected Vice-President of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents

by Press Release
June 8, 2017

The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (M.A.S.S.) held its Annual Spring Meeting on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough.

During the event, M.A.S.S. Executive Director Tom Scott announced that Holliston Superintendent Bradford Jackson was recently elected Vice President of M.A.S.S. by Superintendents from across Massachusetts.  Jackson, a resident of Wilmington, will serve as Vice President beginning July 1st while continuing to serve the students of Holliston as their full-time Superintendent.  After serving one year as Vice President and a second year as President-elect, Jackson will serve as President of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents beginning in July 2019.

“Brad is one of Massachusetts’ most senior and well-respected Superintendents,” said Tom Scott, M.A.S.S. Executive Director.  “His long-tenure in Holliston speaks to his leadership at the local level and his five years of service to M.A.S.S. as the Tri-County representative on the Executive Committee has prepared him to serve in this state-wide capacity.”

Norton Superintendent of Schools, Joseph Baeta, agrees.  “Brad is fearless and unafraid to speak truth to power.  He has been a strong voice in M.A.S.S’ efforts to work with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (D.E.S.E) to give local districts more options to customize mandates to better meet local needs.”

Bradford Jackson has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the Holliston Public Schools since July 2004.  Previously he served as Assistant Superintendent in the Northborough-Southborough Public Schools, Director of Administration and Finance in Wilmington, and Business Administrator in the Hudson and Litchfield NH Public Schools.  He received his doctorate in Educational Leadership from Boston College’s Lynch School of Education.  A native of Cohasset, Dr. Jackson lives in Wilmington with his wife, Patricia, a Pediatric Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

The Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents is the only statewide organization dedicated to the unique professional and advocacy concerns of Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents.  M.A.S.S. makes the needs of the Commonwealth’s students the focus of its work by influencing the development of state-wide education policy and legislation.  M.A.S.S. is currently focusing on initiatives to return equity and adequacy to the state’s Chapter 70 funding efforts, to continue to focus on the Social-Emotional needs of our students, and to advocate for a state-wide effort to develop a high-quality computer technology program in Massachusetts’ schools.
