This past Sunday was ripe with upsets in ‘A’ division.

This past Sunday was ripe with upsets in ‘A’ division.  In the biggest surprise of the day, South beat Dalton Rd 10-2 behind the crafty pitching of Bryan Sweeney (6 IP 1 ER) and rookie Sean Jacquet’s 2-run HR.  Upset #2 saw Downtown slip by Anthony’s 17-14 thanks to a 10-run 5th sparked by Todd Kagno’s 2 doubles in the inning and a HR by Todd Kiley later in the 6th to extend the lead.  Downtown pitcher John Potemri, after a rough start (3 walks in 1st) settled down in the later innings meaning veteran hurler, Mike Adams may be moved the bullpen come playoff time.  The final shocker of the day was DYR beating Kampersal 15-8 behind Zach Raymond’s 4 hits and HR’s by Jay Miller and Ken Sawyers.  Kampersal tied it at 6-6 in the 5th inn on a Chris Boggess grand slam to dead center field but DYR answered with 9 runs in the top of 6th to put the game away.  Braggville continues to roll with a 16-5 thumping of Jasper Rock behind LF Dan Kittridge’s 3 hits and 4 RBI and the slick fielding of SS Matt Baker.

Lions and Mudville still remain tied for first in ‘B’ division with wins on Sunday and appear to be headed to ‘A’ division next yr.  Ernie Tomicelli went 3-4 with 3 RBI to pace the Lions as they shutout Brentwood 10-0.  Erirck Spada’s 2 doubles and 4 RBI helped Mudvile beat Queens 12-4 and remain tied for first.   Long Distance Tire toppled the Hood 15-6 behind Chris Landers’ 3 hits and 2 RBI’s while Sean Peters and Greg Andreola each had 3 hits in the loss for the Hood.

Look for the Week 10 Wrap-Up next week!
