8th Annual Ernie Kampersal One-Pitch Tournament

by Bobby Blair
June 19, 2017

Rep. Carolyn Dykema can be credited with alerting the HollistonReporter.com that the 8th Annual Ernie Kampersal One-Pitch Softball Tournament was being held on Saturday morning.

Dykema, above, handled the coffee assignment for her team which she said was hoping to win this year's tournament.

Brenda (Kampersal) Chapin, daughter of Ernie Kampersal who passed away due to ALS (Lou Gehrigs) disease, handled the scoreboard. Chapin said that 25 teams were involved in the event and utilized five different fields in town. The tournament is so popular that we no longer advertise the event and have to turn away teams Chapin reported to the HollistonReporter.com..

All monies raised are donated to ALS Compassionate Care in memory of Ernie Kampersal. The final game of the tournament was scheduled for 6:30 pm on Saturday eve. The competitions began at 8 am.
