Week #10 : Holliston Senior Softball Wrap-Up: ( thru 6/18)

The final week of the regular season saw Braggville cruise to an undefeated regular season with a 16-6 win over Kampersal behind LF Dan Kittridge’s 3- run HR and 3 hits from OF Paul Murphy.   Anthony’s smacked South 18-2 as OF Mike Delprete lead the offensive barrage with 3 hits and 4 RBI.  Slick fielding SS Dave Robinson made a few standout defensive plays early in the game to thwart any hope of a South comeback.   DYR upended Dalton Rd 18-12 behind SS Jason MacDonald’s 2 HR’s and 6 RBI while leadoff man, OF Matt Piselli, went 4-5 with 3 runs scored.  Dalton Rd first baseman Dave Birmingham hit a mammoth HR in the 3rd inning but MacDonald answered with his second 3-Run HR an inning later to put the game out of reach.  OF Todd Kiley’s 2nd HR in as many weeks paced Downtown to a 14-1 mauling of Jasper Rock.  Downtown’s speedy OF Scott Burke went 3-4 and SS John Drohan reached base for the 2nd consecutive game.

Mudville clinched their ticket to the ‘A’ Division next year by nipping Long Distance 9-8 behind Angelo D’Amato’s 2-out, walk off single in the bottom of the 7th.  Mudville 1B Errick Spada’s 3–run blast in the 5th is still traveling as I write this… Brentwood jumped into the win column with a 15-5 win over the Hood behind P Doug Schmidt’s 4-hit complete game.  In a bit of an upset, Queens edged Lions 13-12 as SS John Abucewicz collected 3 hits and 3 RBI for the winners.  Despite the loss, Lions will still be moving up to ‘A’ next year.  Lions OF Ernie Tomicelli continued his assault on the Lions single season hit record with another 2 hits giving him 58 for the season, shattering the old mark (49) held by Pumpsie Green (1964).
