Farm Advisory Committee Presses Forward

Community Farm Advisory Board members met briefly on July 11th. Several large projects at the farm are in the offing including the siding of the barn and the replacement of a foundation wall in the house. Lumber has already been secured for the barn project by cutting tree's from the property and having them milled on site. Bids are being requested for the foundation project. Both projects are expected to begin in late summer or early fall.

The advisory committee's efforts to grow pumpkins in the field were short lived. Several hundred feet of double rows of newly emerging pumpkin seedlings were eaten by woodchucks. The summer crop of Buckwheat is coming in nicely to help replenish the soil and the bees at the farm's new apiary now have plenty of food. In addition David Dubin of Willowbrook Farm donated 40 yards of manure for the property which will be spread in the fall.

The Friends of the Farm have announced that they will hold a Farm to Table dinner on Saturday August 19th at the Lutheran Church. The church venue is due to the availability of a kitchen and restrooms.

CPC Votes on Two Articles for the October Town Meeting Warrant

That was the purpose of this advertised meeting on October 11, 2017 @ 7:30 PM in Room 014 of the Town Hall.
