John Cronin Announces Candidacy for Selectman

John Cronin of Holly Lane will be running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Cronin has been a resident of Holliston for the last 24 years. He and his wife, Denise, raised 2 children in town who were educated in the Holliston public school system. Mr. Cronin is committed to ensuring that Holliston residents are afforded the best quality of life while maintaining sound fiscal policies. Mr. Cronin's expansive experience make him the best candidate for this job.

Serving in various capacities of Town government since 1997, Mr. Cronin intends to bring his local governing experience and professional administrative experience to the job of Selectman.

Mr. Cronin’s 20 years of local governing experience include;
• 3 years elected to Finance Committee (1997-2000)
• 2 years appointed to Golf Course Advisory Committee (2000-2001)
• 15 years as elected Assessor (2003-2018)
• Member of two Police Chief Screening committees
• Member of recent Town Administrator screening committee

In addition, Mr. Cronin has 29 years of public management experience including;
• 6 years municipal budgeting experience with City of Boston
• 2 years as Fiscal Policy Analyst - Executive Office of Administration and Finance
• 3 years as Budget Director of Programs Division overseeing state and federal grant programs
• 3 years as Chief Financial Officer for the Executive Office of Public Safety overseeing all fiscal policy and budgets of state agencies totaling $1B/yr.
• 3 years as Chief Administrative Officer for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Overhauling and positioning the agency for new leadership
• 9 years as Deputy Laboratory Director of State Police Crime Laboratory overseeing $18M budget, HR matters, technology investments, and all Facility building/renovation/leases.
• 2 years as Deputy Chief Administrative Office for the Department of State Police overseeing all Crime Lab financial and facility matters as well as state police facilities, assets, and statewide telecommunication tower agreements


Mr. Cronin has a Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Masters of Business Administration from Boston University.

The Town will be facing many financial and policy challenges in the coming years as we continue to try and grow our commercial business base, improve the quality of life for our citizens, and apply resources to Town services in a balanced and fiscally responsible fashion.”
