When a Bomb is Really a Bong

by The Publisher
May 11, 2018

Earlier this morning, Friday, May 10, 2018, an anonymous phone call was placed to the Holliston Police Department claiming that a student had a “bomb” in his/her car. The high school administration was notified and the student parking lot was immediately cordoned off by the Holliston Police Department and school staff. Officials from the school administration, Holliston Police Department and Holliston Fire Department, through interviews and other electronic means, were able to identify both the anonymous caller and the student who was supposed to have this material in his/her car. When the anonymous caller was interviewed by school officials, he/she immediately, emphatically and convincingly reported that he/she had called to report that the other student had a “bong” in his/her car and not a “bomb.”

At the same time, the school administration, HPD and HFD, removed the suspect-student from his/her class to a separate location to begin their investigation. In addition, all students who were in the same class as the suspect-student were ordered to leave their belongings in their class and they were then moved to a separate classroom. The school administration, HPD and HFD interviewed the suspect-student, searched the student, his/her backpack and locker and conducted a thorough search of the student’s car. The search of the student-suspect’s car confirmed the caller’s words were misunderstood.

Based on this information, the student parking lot was re-opened and normal activities resumed
