American Legion Holds Food Truck Festival to Benefit Local American Legion

by Paul Saulnier
May 20, 2018

Clouds cleared up and the Sun shone on the American Legion's fund raiser at the Holliston Historical Society on Mother's Day, May 13, 2018

The Legion had nice weather which helped attract hungry guests to the grounds of the Historical Society at 547 Washington Street.

Pat from Roadmaster Auto Sales and Service brought his converted armoured truck which is always an attraction at Patriots games and is a tribute to the men and women of the armed services.

This was a whole day's worth of calories in one pulled pork meal from the window of MELT, one of the food trucks participating in the American Legion's fund raiser.

Trucks pay an entry fee and donate a portion of their proceeds to the Legion.

Steve Bradford, above left, is Commander of the Legion and an organizer of the food truck festival.

Organizers of the event also include Theresa Lamkin, above, and Jane Gilfoy and Carl Damigella, below.

Sponsors included Jensen& Sheehan Insurance, Rodenhiser Excavating, HCAT, Robshaw Electric, Holliston Historical Society, The Stray Tones, HollistonReporter.com and MetroWest Transit Authority.

The Much-anticipated Mudville Traffic Study is Here!

by Chris Cain

When I studied science in school (in addition to reading, writing, and 'rithmetic of course), the professor would say, "In God We Trust, All Others Bring Data." Holliston's Board of Selectmen must have gone to the same school because they wanted data before considering any traffic volume and speed mitigation strategies in Mudville. The McMahon group recently delivered their 104 page report to the Selectmen (and to the public via the town's website). https://www.townofholliston.us/sites/hollistonma/files/uploads/mcmahon_mudville_traffic_pattern_analysis_memo_2018-11-07.pdf Rather than having everyone read the entire report, below are some of the data presented in a 'did you know' format. Did you know the current speed limit on all streets in Mudville is exactly the same as on Route 16 in downtown Holliston - 30 mph. Looking at the compilation photo above, what might strike you - besides that there are no speed limit signs anywhere in Mudville?
