Mudville Weekend Outdoor Cooking Begins Early

Fire personnel were called to 41 Mechanic Street on Friday afternoon around 2:20 pm. A dumpster belonging to contractors doing work at 39 Mechanic Street was ablaze.

Due to the height of the dumpster, firemen had trouble reaching the interior corners of the fire. To the rescue came across the street neighbor and former Holliston Ladder Co. # 1 fireman with a quick solution  - what else but a ladder.

Deputy Chief Jim Moore, McCarthy and John Gagnon atop the borrowed ladder quell the blaze.

So it's 2018 and we have 2 town firefighters and a civilian fighting a dumpster fire with god knows what inside with absolutely ZERO personal protective equipment including SCBA. No hydrant line. Is this 1950? Has anyone ever heard of skyrocketing rates of firefighter cancer? These pictures violates so many basic firefighting standard operation procedures! I hope the officers and leaders of HFD can honestly look in the mirror and say "this is OK."
