Holliston in Bloom presents the Floral and Landscape Design Award this week to Karen and Eric Maki. Their home was nominated by a resident on the Holliston in Bloom website. You can nominate a home whose curb appeal is improved by landscaping and floral displays at  http://www.hollistoninbloom.org/events.html

The cottage appeal of this home is best appreciated face-on where the majestic old tree lends age, character and architecture to the design. The window boxes on the upstairs windows are an attractive spot of colorful interest.

The stone walls frame the plants. The variegated leaves and many shades of green are attractive even when there are not blooms among them. Annuals provide the color of summer but the perennials and shrubs ensure interest all season long.

HIB appreciates the investment and work that it takes to maintain such an appealing landscape. Thanks for helping to beautify Holliston, Karen and Eric, and congratulations!
