The new greenhouse at the Community Farm on Rogers Road is now functional. A donation in the amount of $22,500 by the American Legion Downtown Marigold Project made the 27' x 96' hothouse a reality. The greenhouse was planted earlier in the week with 400 pepper plants, 350 tomatoes and 20 hills of cucumber. The house features roll up sides for ventillation along with a garage size opening at the front of the structure. Chicken wire has been applied to the sides to keep deer and woodchucks at bay.

Bradford told the HollistonReporter.com that he was happy to be part of of the gift and that the project is located on town property. Kilkelly said "The new green house is a huge step forward in the development  of the Community Farm. This will create great opportunities  to teach and engage our school kids and youth groups in agriculture. We are all very grateful to the Downtown Marigold  Fund  for this wonderful  donation to the Community Farm". Westland said she is delighted with the new addition at the farm. "This greenhouse adds another dimension to the Holliston Community Farm and increases the potential of how the Farm can be utilized by the community. The greenhouse can be used as an educational vehicle to agriculture into the schools. We look forward to working with the community in leveraging the offerings at the Holliston Community Farm". Blair hopes that the new facilities will grow flowers that his project plants around town and be used for public education. "You'd be surprised he noted the number of people who couldn't tell you where a carrot seed comes from.

The Farm Advisory Committee is currently working to have  a new septic system installed, and the refurbishment of the barn is near completion. The next event sponsored by the Friends of The Farm is a farm to table dinner on August 25th.
