JANE F. ARMSTRONG, AGE 85, HOME AT THE RESIDENCE AT VALLEY FARM, ASHLAND, MA,
DIED WITH HER DAUGHTER LEA BY HER SIDE AT 1:22 AM ON 7/8/18 AT THE TIMOTHY DANIELS HOUSE, HOLLISTON, MA FROM CARDIAC COMPLICATIONS.
BORN ON 6/12/33 IN BOSTON, DAUGHTER OF JOSEPH AND OLIVE (FRYE) FREITAS ("BOB & PICKLES") , MARRIED ON 8/13/56 TO GLENN K. ARMSTRONG FROM CLEMSON, SC. MOVED AFTER MARRIAGE TO BOULDER COLORADO, ALSO LIVED IN CAMBRIDGE, WAKEFIELD & MARBLEHEAD, MA, DEARBORN , MICHIGAN, AND FINALLY SETTLING IN LEXINGTON, MA TO RAISE HER FAMILY. MOVED TO HER FAMILY HOME OF MANY GENERATIONS IN HARRINGTON , MAINE WITH HER HUSBAND AFTER RETIREMENT IN 2000.
JANE ATTENDED SIMMONS COLLEGE, OBTAINING A DEGREE AS A RN. CONTINUED HER EDUCATION AT BOSTON UNIVERSITY WITH A MASTERS DEGREE IN NURSING, AND ELECTED INTO THE SIGMA THETA TAU NURSING SOCIEY.
JANE WORKED AS An RN AT MASS GENERAL HOSPITAL, THE VA IN BEDFORD, MA, THE VNA IN BOTH LEXINGTON AND BEDFORD, MA AND WAS A PROFESSOR AT NORTHEASTERN COLLEGE WORKING IN THE COLLEGE OF NURSING IN THE COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT. SHE FINISHED HER CAREER WORKING FOR THE AMERICAN RED CROSS AS A HEALTHCARE COORDINATOR.
JANE WAS A CARING, WITTY, LOVING WOMAN WHO ENJOYED COLLECTING THOUSANDS OF RECIPIES, AND ENJOYED COOKING WITH A PASSION. SHE AND HER HUSBAND LOVED SQUARE DANCING WITH THE CLUB MINUTEMAN SQUARES IN LEXINGTON, MA. SHE WAS THE DIRECTOR OF HAND BELL RINGERS AT HER CHURCH IN HARRINGTON, ME. SHE LOVED FRESH CUT FLOWERS, RASPBERRIES & BLUEBERRIES, SOFT FLUFFY DOGS, CATS, AND HAD AN ADDICITION TO CROSSWORD PUZZLES!
SHE LEAVES HER HUSBAND OF 60 YEARS, GLENN (PREDECEASED IN 2016), HER DAUGHTERS LEA J.NORTON & HUSBAND BILL , FROM HOLLISTON, MA, TY M. MILLER & HUSBAND JAMES (RAVEN) FROM BOULDER COLORADO, SON G.SCOTT ARMSTRONG (PREDECEASED IN 2005), HER SISTER LYDIA F. VERNAGLIA & HUSBAND DR. PAUL ALBERT, GRANDCHILDREN JOHN M. AND CHRIS L. HENDRON, JESSICA M. LEARY, JAMES CAPONE AND GREAT GRANDCHILDREN KAYLA CAPONE, JACK & LEWIS HENDRON, SOPHIA M. LEARY ( PREDECEASED IN 2015), AND MICHAEL PATRICK LEARY. SISTER IN LAW, MARION ARMSTRONG, NUMEROUS CLOSE NIECES AND NEPHEWS, AND SO MANY DEARLY LOVED RELATIVES
AND FRIENDS.
