Thanksgiving Basket Committee Could Use a Little Help
Thanksgiving Baskets for the Food Pantry
It may only be mid October but the Holliston Newcomers Club has been busy organizing the Holliston Food Pantry Thanksgiving Baskets project for the past month. Many families in our town depend on the generous donations of all the fixings to create their special holiday meal. Last year over 150 deserving families received a Thanksgiving Basket. These baskets are jam packed with so many items including canned & fresh vegetables, coffee & tea, mixes for breads & brownies, a fresh pie, and a gift certificate to buy a turkey! The Holliston Newcomers Club makes this possible by organizing the content donations, produce purchase, and assembly of the Baskets for the Holliston Food Pantry and other smaller local groups as well.
Many thanks are due to the local organizations and companies that have already committed to doing their part! Table Talk Pies will donate the pies, Boston International will donate the napkins, and the Holliston Historical Society will again give us the use of the Barn for the week of the basket assembly. Plus many local churches, scout troops, and businesses have offered to collect the needed non-perishables within their groups as well as be drop-off locations.
But even with all of this support, we still need help from you to satisfy all the needs of our community. In addition to shopping during our food drive at Shaw’s in Ashland on Saturday, Nov. 3rd from 9-4 - you can support our efforts through monetary & non-perishable item donations. All donations large and small go a long way.
For monetary donations, please visit the HNC Thanksgiving Baskets webpage http://www.hollistonnewcomers.org/thanksgiving-baskets and you will see a variety of PayPal options to pick from. If you would prefer to mail your donation, please send a check made out to Holliston Newcomers Club to Katrine Giroux, 147 Mohawk Path, Holliston. For non-perishable item donations, there are many drop-off locations around town. Here is the list of non-perishable items we will be collecting and the drop-off locations. Drop-off deadline is Sunday, Nov 11th to allow time to get our final count and fill-in where needed before assembly day.
