Miller Elementary School Receives Grant from Action for Healthy Kids® and CSX to Advance Physical Activity and Healthy Eating Habits Among Students

Holliston, MA (October 16, 2018) – Miller Elementary School is a proud recipient of a $1000 grant from Action for Healthy Kids® (AFHK) for the 2018-2019 school year. The grant is provided through funding by CSX Transportation to expand student access to physical activity and healthy foods in school, improve knowledge and behaviors around physical activity and healthy eating, and engage parents in activities that reinforce healthy habits at home.

Miller Elementary School will use its grant to encourage daily movement through the Marathon Fitness Challenge program. Funding will also support a healthy taste test pilot program to foster healthy nutrition, while creating greater educational awareness around healthy food choices.

“We recognize the impact of physical activity and good nutrition on our students’ health and learning and are excited to create an even healthier school environment with the funding and resources from Action for Healthy Kids and CSX,” said Wendy Krauss, Occupational Therapist for the Holliston, MA School District.


Miller is one of 225 schools receiving a CSX-funded grant along with technical support to implement its grant utilizing AFHK’s Game On program in the 2018-2019 school year. Since 2013, CSX-supported school grants have helped more than 1,600 schools implement health and wellness initiatives, impacting over 810,000 students.
