Adams Girls Cross Country

by Press Release
November 24, 2018

They Adams Girls Cross Country team capped off another undefeated season with another impressive showing in the Div 1 State meet held earlier in the month.  The girls had run the table last year winning everything including Div 1 state meet and this year, although losing many of their top 7 had hopes for the same.  They ran the table in the Bay Valley league going undefeated for the 4th straight year, won the Central MA invitational and were in good shape headed to the State meet. Things looked good after the CMA meet and early on in this one with Carmen Luisi and Maggie Kuchman holding 1st and 3rd thru the early stages of the race.  The girl from Lexington, who won last year made a move, but 7th grader Carmen held her off to win the race, with 6th grader Maggie maintaining her hold on 3rd, for an impressive 1-2 punch up front.

The Lexington/Diamond team was a little too strong for Adams this day though.  Even with Ella Bosselman and Casey Wig in 15 and 16, Lexington had just a bit more.  Ella Kuchman rounded out our scoring in 36th for an impressive total of 71 points but not quite enough this year.  However a really impressive performances by all considering all the stars the team lost last year.

The stars stilled look pretty bright this year though, teams dream of being top 3 in the state meet.    Carmen Luisi set a 7th grade record on the course and is #2 all time and Maggie Kuchman set a 6th grade course record and is now #5 all time, so things still look strong for the future.

Carmen had a pretty fantastic season, going undefeated, winning the Ocean State meet, the Central MA Inv, the MA State meet, the USATF NE championships and the USATF Regional Championships and has qualified for the Nationals in Reno NV.

The boys ran in the Championship race for the first time and found themselves snake bit, with some really bad luck.  3 of the top 7 couldn’t make the meet and 1 more came down with the flu the night before.   So what looked like a strong contingent in their rookie outing turned into something less.  However a bunch of the guys stepped up and did the best they could under the circumstances and did a great job in their inaugural time on the big stage.  Led by Nate Giordano,  and a nice job by all, Stephen Majkut, Brendan Fitzpatric, Mikey McGovern, Ryan Bausch and Liam Jordan followed Nate to set the table for future teams to make their names in this meet in years to come.  Congratulations to both teams on a fine season.
