Boys & Girls Cross Country

by Press Release
November 29, 2018

The boys and girls Cross Country teams from Adams Middle School recently wound down a fantastic season with their next to last meet, the Central MA Inv in Leicester, MA.  The boys having a comeback season of the ages going 8-1 in dual meets after only winning 2 meets last year were 2nd in the CMA meet, losing the Division 1 championship by a scant 1 point.  The boys were missing a couple of their top 5 but others picked up the slack to bring them oh, so close!!

Leading the way for Holliston, as he did all year, was Nate Giordano, in 2nd place overall, followed by Rowan O’Brien in 11th,  6th graders Jack McElligott and Mikey McGovern in 18th and 19th and Owen Bulmer in 24th.   He was followed closely by Stephen Majkut, Ryan Bausch and Brendan Fitzpatrick in 26, 28 and 32nd.  This gave the boys a total of 72 points just being edged out by Groton Dunstable with 71.

And on this cold, wet and miserable day, the girls brought some sunlight to the otherwise dreary afternoon.  The course was messy with lots of puddles, mud and standing water thru the 1.7 mile course.   Even though some went down early they were not to be denied after their 4th consecutive undefeated season.  The girls sprinted out to an amazing 1-4 lead early which they never relinquished.  It was a sight to behold.  Complete dominance in an invitational is almost unheard of.   So this was nothing short of amazing in any weather conditions.  The girls held onto 1-4 and picked up 17th to get the win, with 27 points, winning by 33 points!  Carmen Luisi led thru the whole race and won, with the fastest time of the day in all races.   She was followed by 6th grader Maggie Kuchman in 2nd, Casey Wig in 3rd and Ella Bosselman in 4th.  Camryn Rankin rounded out the scorers in 17th place.  Two more 6th graders were close behind, Annabelle Lynch in 19th and Sarah Kuchman in 26th.  The score was so good it would win most dual meets let alone a larger invitational.

Congratulations to both teams, the first time in 5 years the boys and girls have come home with trophies in the same championship invitational!!

Pix id- girls championship trophy...Lil Engel, Maeve Garvey, Casey Wig 3rd, Ella Bosselman 4th, Carmen Luisi race champion, Camryn Rankin 17th, Sophie Israel, Ella Talmanson, Coach Peter Vigue.
