Holliston Lions & Holliston Athletic Boosters Team Up for Super Bowl

by Doreen Martel
January 27, 2019

The Patriots are going to the Super Bowl! After a near heart-stopping game, the Patriots defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in a breathtaking overtime win. As they have in the past, the Holliston Lions Club and the Holliston Athletics Boosters Association (HABA) are teaming up for their annual fundraising event, Super Bowl Squares.

Both the Holliston Lions and HABA take this opportunity annually to raise money for their scholarship funds and other worthy causes. Funds collected are all donated back so there is no administration. The bonus is you can win big with this event. Combined, both organizations will sell only 100 squares at $100 each and the prizes are as follows:

  • First Quarter Score - $500
  • Half-Time Score - $750
  • Third Quarter Score - $500
  • Final Score - $1,500

Number Assignments

Everyone who participates is invited to join us on Super Bowl Sunday from 1:30 – 3:00 upstairs at Casey’s and enjoy some hearty appetizers while numbers are assigned to the board. Once the drawing is complete, you can find the grid listed on the Holliston Lions Club website and on their Facebook page.

Purchasing Tickets

You can purchase a chance from any Holliston Lions Club member or by visiting the Holliston Lions Club website to purchase online. You can also contact Lori Geoffroy via email at lorimgeoffroy@gmail.com

The Holliston Lions Club and HABA thank you in advance for your support of their fundraising efforts. Go Pats!

Holliston Lions - Service With a Mission

The Holliston Lions Club performs many service projects and fundraising events. Annual events like our $10,000 raffle go to support many important programs not only in Holliston but across Massachusetts and internationally. On a state-wide basis, the majority of our “out-of-Holliston” donations go to support Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc. This is no accident, in fact, it is part of our overall mission which was a result of a challenge issued by Massachusetts native Helen Keller.

In Celebration of Women's History Month: History of Women in Lions Clubs

Amy Porter, Pam Zicko, Linda Ahronian, Louise Kirkpatrick and Lisa Zais. Residents of Holliston will recognize these women’s names because they have all been recognized as Citizen of the Year for Holliston. But there’s something you may not know. These women also are part of the world’s largest service organization, Lions Clubs International (LCI). The Holliston Lions Club became part of LCI in 1941. At that time, women were not allowed to be part of Lions, despite the fact Lions obtained their mission — eradicating blindness — from a woman, specifically, Helen Keller. It is also worth noting that the “Lions Toast,” which is unique to Massachusetts and reads simply “Not above you, not beneath you but with you” was written by the wife of a Lions Club member in Lynn, Massachusetts.
