Pancakes - With or Without Chocolate Chips

by Chris Cain
February 4, 2019

Sunday, February 3rd was a very special day for the members of Boy Scout Troop 14.  They participated in a special Boy Scout mass at St. Mary's and then quickly transitioned to hosts for their annual Pancake Breakfast fund raiser.

In speaking with Troop 14 Scout Master, Charlie Paradie, I learned that this event has been going on for over 30 years.  This is the troop's main source of revenue to support their campouts and acquisition of gear.  Many local businesses took out ads in the printed program.  Thirty-one scouts, ranging in age from 11 - 17, manned two shifts to make sure all the guests received topnotch service.

The menu included: pancakes (with or without chocolate chips), sausages, and juice.  The scouts were kept busy as the crowd arrived after the 9:30 Scout mass.

Before it got too busy, this reporter went behind the scenes to see where the magic happened.  Seen below are: John Doyle, Terry Lukowiak, and Lisa Ripley.

What was the total number of pancakes flipped?  Who really knows and most people only cared about the pancakes they enjoyed!
