Cupid Visits Holliston Senior Center

by Chris Cain

It was a sea of red at the annual Valentine's Day Luncheon held yesterday at the Senior Center.

It was a sea of red at the annual Valentine's Day Luncheon held yesterday at the Senior Center.

Each guest arrived to find a festive place setting with placemats provided by students at Holliston's elementary schools.

A sumptuous three-course meal consisting of Caesar salad, Baked Stuffed Shrimp with potato and carrots, topped off with chocolate cake was served.

Senior Center Volunteer Diane Svensen and her granddaughters Alexa and Lia DeLorey, made sure each guest got first-class service.

Thanks to a grant from the Holliston Cultural Committee, Roger Tinknell serenaded the Valentines in attendance.  His repetoire features songs from the Beatles.  This reporter left before he got to "Love Me Do."  Or that Valentine's favorite, "when she crossed that room, my heart went boom!'

P.S. If you are reading this article on February 14th and you have not yet appropriately recognized your Valentine, you better get to a store that can help you bring the love that Cupid would approve.

Civics Sunday: Celebrate Holliston Honors 2019 Citizens of the Year

by Yvette Cain

Celebrate Holliston, a town fund-raising non-profit organization established in 1991, honors volunteers Bea Hait and Ken Henderson as its Citizens of the Year. It seems only logical since Celebrate Holliston donates its time, energy, and financial support to worthwhile town projects that it would seek out those among us who volunteer their time and energies to make our community a better place to live.
