New England Revolution Honors Young Local Hero Ryan Magoon of Holliston

by Press Release
March 17, 2019

March 12, 2019 (Boston, MA) — The New England Revolution honored Ryan Magoon from Holliston, MA as the Hero of the Match at the team’s home opener game on Saturday, March 9 against the Columbus Crew. The young hero was recognized during a pregame ceremony for his bravery in battling against Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome and using his fight to help others through fundraising. Ryan had a sideline view of the Revs pregame warmups and enjoyed the game from the Putnam Club.

Diagnosed with Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome shortly before his first birthday, Ryan Magoon has pushed through the challenges in fighting the incurable disease to help support Boston Children’s Hospital community. He has become a youthful voice to help serve the community that has been by his side since he was first diagnosed through fundraising efforts for the hospital with the Eversource Walk to raise money to support research, patient care and community health programs of the hospital.

The Revs’ Hero of the Match program honors a local first responder, member of the armed forces or individual making a difference in the community at each home game during the 2019 season. To nominate a Hero of the Match for an upcoming New England Revolution home game, please visit: www.revolutionsoccer.net/community/hero-of-the-match
