Feels Like Summer in the Greenhouse

Eight kids from 7-14 years of age took part in a pilot program between the Community Farm and the Parks & Rec Department on Wednesday afternoon.

The six session, bi-weekly program is designed to show students crops which can be planted in the spring time in greenhouses. While the program ends in early June, it is hoped some of the crops will be available for students to take home.

Wednesday's plantings included broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, sunflowers and peas.

In several weeks planting of lettuce, swiss chard, radishes and carrots will take place. The program is being held weeks apart in hopes that some of the crops will start to appear so the kids will see the results of their work.
