Greener Grass and Gardens with Organic Care - April 7th

by Press Release
April 3, 2019

On Sunday, April 7th, Healthy Holliston Homes is hosting a FREE event called Greener Grass & Gardens with Organic Care. This is the first event being offered by this newly-formed volunteer group of passionate residents who are concerned about the impacts of the overuse of herbicides and pesticides on the health of our children, pets, environment, and watershed. It will be held from 3-5pm at the Holliston Fire Station.

Diana Phillips, the group’s founder and Holliston organic farmer comments, “With the recent explosion of headline news exposing the direct link between chemicals used in every-day products and cancer, there has never been a better time to learn more about what you can do to protect your family and your environment.”

A short introductory video will play before lawn experts from Simply Safer and Clean Air Lawn Care will explain the options available to residents. Diana Phillips says, “It is our mission to educate families about the effects of chemicals that are commonly found in lawn care products. We aim to explain how to find out what your lawn care professionals are applying to your lawn, share knowledge of what products have been shown to be dangerous to our health, and help you find safer alternatives for a green lawn without putting your family’s wellbeing at risk.”

A question and answer session will follow the presentations. We encourage all members of the community to come and learn more about how to protect the safety of our community and those who live there against these hidden threats. Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to welcoming you to a healthier lifestyle, starting right in our own back yards.
