CHSO Family Matinee - Sunday at 3:00

The Annual Claflin Hill Family Symphony Matinee takes place on Sunday, April 7th, at 3 PM in the Milford Town Hall.  Tickets range from $12 to $8, with a family pack available for just $20. Tickets can be purchased on line at www.claflinhill.org   This concert features an “Instrument Petting Zoo” before and after the concert, where audience members can try out the many orchestra instruments.  The Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies ensembles also join their professional CHSO Mentors for a joint “Side by Side” performance. The theme of this year’s Matinee program is “Students and Teachers” and will feature several works that showcase teachers in the CHSO performing directly with their teachers.  

A centerpiece of this program will be Benjamin Britten’s A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.  The piece is a great way to get to know the individual components of the orchestra, as each family within the orchestra takes a turn on the theme. Also on the program, Les Preludes by Liszt. The CHSO Family Symphony Matinee is a perfect first-time experience for young children from 5 years and up, as well as people of all ages who enjoy a wonderful afternoon concert in the early spring!

CHSO’s Annual Side-by-side Family Symphony Concert is supported with grants from in part by grants from the Milford, Bellingham, Franklin, Mansfield, and Holliston Cultural Councils, all local agencies, which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Three students from Holliston are members of the Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies. These young people, along with close to 100 other young musicians from over 30 towns throughout eastern Massachusetts, convene every Sunday afternoon in Framingham to rehearse. The Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies, comprised of The Claflin Hill Youth Symphony Orchestra, The Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies Wind Ensemble, and The Claflin Hill Youth Symphonies Repertory Ensemble,  provides advanced orchestral training for students ages 8 – 18.
