Sustainability Coordinator Vote at Town Meeting

Publishers' Note: The folks at the Upper Charles Climate Action group provide us with content to produce the weekly energy tips.  Helpful, and often simple, things each of us can do to save energy and save our environment.  This week's tip highlights another action we can take as citizens of Holliston.  We want to use content from the Upper Charles Climate Action group to provide unbiased information to help us all make an informed decision next week.

Your Chance to Have an Impact

At Town Meeting on May 6th, citizens will have a chance to vote for the town to hire a part time Sustainability Coordinator. In other towns (more than 30 in Massachusetts) Coordinators have significantly reduced carbon emissions (municipal, residential and commercial) while bringing in more money through grants, incentives and savings than the cost of their positions.  In fact, they have brought in between 4 and 8 times their cost to the town.  But addressing carbon is not all about money.  It is about doing our part to reduce the impact of climate change.

Recently, four sustainability coordinators participated in a panel discussion about the work they do and the financial and environmental impacts of their work. To view HCAT's coverage, click here -> Sustainability Coordinator Panel Discussion
