Holliston Garden Club selected a prime weather day, Saturday, May 11, for its annual plant sale.  The Town Green activity was brisk and lively in the little corner where the Garden Club had set up shop.

Garden Club “staff” was on hand to answer questions and lead folks to rare treats and common favorites.

Geraniums, everyone’s favorite garden flower, would soon find new homes on Mother’s Day.

Planting location hints of “Shade” and “Sun” clearly marked best bets for each condition.

Window-shopping was not an option, but staff encouraged milling about and browsing around.

Prices of items to be sold were plainly listed.  Worth appeared to be determined with a keen eye for quality and value.

Hanging baskets were clustered, making a vibrant and colorful display.

The more you saw, the harder the decisions became! Which herbs smelled best?  Which tomato would produce the plumpest fruit?

Final selections in hand, I could move on to the cash register, where Susan Russo aptly applied her financial acumen.

Looking back through the dogwoods I wondered, “Did I miss anything?”

I glanced at the newly edged and neatly mulched border of the green.  (Thank you, Ahronian Landscaping.)  Wait!  I spy a little angel on her way to St. Mary’s for First Communion.
