Each month, Give Back to Givers honors a "Volunteer of the Month" to highlight his/her service and dedication to the town of Holliston, and to show how important volunteerism is to the town. This month we honor Kathy Shore.

What have you done in the past as volunteer work?

I moved to Holliston in 1991 and joined the Newcomers Club. I became an active member of the club, co-chairing the craft fair and eventually Vice President and President of the club over the years. Also a very active member of my church (First Congregational of Holliston).

I also became involved with Celebrate Holliston, initially the field day, then co-chairing the event for 5 years. For the past 17 years I coordinated the food tent. As a registered nurse, over the years I have volunteered at the town’s free flu clinic.

What do you currently do as a volunteer?

Most recently I have co-chaired Holliston in Bloom, a town beautification project and just joined the garden club.

What made you want to get involved in volunteering?

I initially starting volunteering to meet people in town but quickly found out that I really enjoyed giving back to such a great town, you get more back than you give.

What is your favorite part of volunteering?

I enjoy being a positive influence on our town and sharing my time and gifts. I am lucky to live in such a great community and enjoy giving back to Holliston.
