Butterfly Aviary Open to the Public

by Bobby Blair
July 25, 2019

The butterfly aviary located behind the clubhouse at Pinecrest Golf Course is now open to the public. The aviary is a project of the town's Agricultural Commission according to its chairman PJ Kilkelly.

Kilkelly noted that Cherry Fenton is to be acknowledged for her hard work in keeping the butterflies fed with the many planting of flowers.

Doors are open from dawn to dusk and there is no admission fee. Several varieties of butterflies are housed in the butterfly house with black swallowtail's making an entrance this week.

Stopped in at the aviary after lunch at Anthony's on Monday. It was lovely to be among the beautiful and allmost "invisible butterflies". The peace inside was lovely, enjoying both the butterflies and the flowers and the stillness. Thanks to those who also added the information sheets. The butterflies blended in to the tranquility. A hidden jewel to enjoy. Thank you.
