Holliston Community Shredding Event to Celebrate Earth Day

First Annual Shredding and Recycling Event on April 22nd...

On Sunday, April 22nd, all are invited to the Holliston Community Shredding Day to celebrate Earth Day and to support local organizations.  A mobile shredding truck will be at the Holliston High School from 9am to noon, providing a free service to securely shred and recycle confidential documents.

Take this opportunity to clean out those old files and have them destroyed in a safe, secure, and environmentally friendly way.  You will witness your documents being securely shredded on site.  All paper at the event will be recycled with the help of Universal Shredding.  Some ideas for documents for shredding are old tax returns, bank statements, credit reports, receipts, and credit card offers.

Spring is often a time for residents to clear out unwanted or obsolete items, and this event has several ways to get it accomplished.  In addition to the shredding, recycling of electronics and reuse of clothing, shoes, or toys will also be on hand.

Gallo Moving and C.O.W.S. (Containers on Wheels) have taken on the roles of recycling electronics for the community.  They will be there with their C.O.W. to haul away televisions, monitors, printers, phones, etc.  They will be recycling these electronics free of charge.

PlanetAid, a local Holliston business, will be on hand to collect residents’ bags of clothing, shoes, toys, and books.  Spend a few hours going through that overflowing closet, and bring it down for them to put it into the hands of needy people as well as raising money for great programs around the globe.

Ed and Doriane Daniels, Holliston residents and realtors with Realty Executives, are hosting this event.  The event is the first of its kind for the community, and expectations are that it will become an annual event.  A full detailing of what items people should bring to the event can be found on their website, www.MAhome.com.
All participants in the event will be entered to win raffle prizes of a personal paper shredder or a home safe.

Second Generation Energy will also be on hand to share benefits of residential solar panels and the energy savings using their technology.  Another great way to spend Earth Day.

While this event is free, donations would be appreciated but not required.  The local organization being supported, Friends of the Holliston Trails, will be there to talk about recent successes in the goal to bring a “rail trail” through Holliston.  Come support this great organization of volunteers who are bringing a valuable community asset to Holliston.
