Citizen of the Year Award

by Bill Tobin 7/28/12

Now is the time to nominate the Holliston citizens of the year, one guy and one gal...

The nominee must be a Holliston resident who has not previously been selected.

This is a great honor to bestow on a citizen who has demonstrated energy, enthusiasm and accomplishment.

The selection is made by the Celebrate Hollston Committee and the  winner will be presented to the Town on Saturday, September 22nd at Celebrate Holliston Field Day.

A major activity of the day is the naming of the one man and the one woman who will henceforth be known as the Citizens of the Year, 2012.

Who do you think has made an outstanding contribution to the town? Is it someone who is diligently working quietly behind the scene? Or is it someone who is in the public eye?

Many residents will come to mind and deserve recognition,  but they can not receive the award twice, even though as past citizens of the year they contnue to work dilligently for the town.

To avoid the temptation to nominate the obvious, check out this list of past winners and do not nominate them again.

It's too bad that you cannot vote for individuals who have been past winners because I (and many others I'm sure would agree)feel that the Mayors efforts toward American in Bloom stands out the most in my mind for this past year. The hours and hours of work that went into making the town look great without monetary/political or whatever compensation. I think one would be hard-pressed to find another person like him in the state....possibly even the country.
