HNC Delivers Holiday Meals

by Frances Pleska
December 26, 2012

On Christmas Day, over 35 seniors had a traditional home cooked holiday meal delivered right to their door step by members of the Holliston Newcomers Club.

Many families of Newcomers joined in to cook, assemble, or deliver hot meals including homemade desserts to either Mission Springs, Cole Court or individual homes where seniors live and would not otherwise be able to travel out on their own.

The annual
Christmas Day Meals for Seniors Project is a collaboration between the community and the Holliston Newcomers Club.  Smiles were contagious from both the giving members and from the receiving individuals.

The Holliston Newcomers Club (www.hollistonnewcomers.org) is a not-for-profit organization that coordinates charitable, civic, social, and recreational events and activities in the town of Holliston.  The organization’s goal is to encourage association among community members and foster community spirit.  Membership is open to both residents and non-residents of Holliston.  For more information contact Fran Pleska, President  frances.pleska@fmglobal.com

The Friends of Holliston Trails is excited to host the 5th Annual First Night Trail Walk on December 31st from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. For those who are new to town, fire pits light the trail from Blair Square and Cross Street to Phipps Tunnel. Friendly fire pit hosts chat with walkers and offer a source of warmth during your stroll. To make this event the best yet, the Friends of the Holliston Trails are still in need of additional fire pit hosts. It's an easy task and a lot of fun.
