The question is why did the Water Dept. use a US Mail postcard to inform every water user of the mere availability of the quality report yet use a practically invisible newspaper advertisement - without any details - to implement a 15% rate increase? In addition, it's now been two weeks and I have yet to receive even an acknowledgement - never mind actual answers - to the several questions I posed back on June 19 regarding that rate increase. Besides the apparent and serious communication breakdown, I think it demonstrates a bad attitude toward ratepayers. By the way, I'm pretty sure their answer to my my question in this post will be " we're required by the DEP to notify all ratepayers of the availability of the quality report and we're only required to advertise our intention to hold a hearing on rates". To that, I say again, is minimally complying with the rules at the expense of the trust of your ratepayers any way to run a Water Dept.?
