Thanksgiving Meals for Seniors

From Sheri D. O’Brien

A big thank you to the community of Holliston for past support of the Holliston Newcomers & Neighbors (HNN) program to help make Meals for Seniors at Thanksgiving!

This year HNN and all residents of Holliston are welcome to join in our efforts of cooking, assembling, and delivering meals to approximately 50-60 Seniors. It is important to show our elders that our community cares about them especially during the holiday season which can be a difficult time for many.

We are still looking for additional volunteers to help cook, assemble, and deliver Senior Meals on Thanksgiving morning.  Assembly will begin at 7:30 AM at the Freemasons’ Mt. Hollis Lodge at 657 Washington Street, Holliston with delivery starting at approximately 10-10:30 AM until complete. The distribution of the meals will require delivery to about 3-5 Seniors for each delivery vehicle. Families are more than welcome to deliver as the kids are a huge hit with our Seniors.

To volunteer and sign-up for cooking, assembling, or delivering meals, go to:

A special thanks to the Freemasons at Mount Hollis Lodge (and David Hill for his coordination) for hosting and assisting with the assembly at the Lodge, and to all who signed up to make an item.  Also, many thanks to the Holiday Dreams Foundation (Jonathan & Leslie Gerber) for the donation of money for all of the turkeys – of course, we are grateful to Linda Marshall and Marty Schneier from the Holliston Senior Center for helping organize this event.

As a reminder, roasted turkeys and cooked items for the meals should be dropped off at the Mount Hollis Lodge, 657 Washington St. from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 27th.  There will a refrigerator available in the kitchen.  Please contact Co-Chairs Amy Forman ( or Sheri O’Brien ( with any questions.

Lastly, please keep an eye out in December for the Christmas Meals for Seniors coordinated by the Holliston Lions!
