Help Us Plan the Library of the Future!

Wed., Nov. 20 from 7-8:30 pm

or Wed., Dec. 4 from 1-2:30 pm

We have hired a consultant to evaluate the library for the future. We are asking our patrons to attend one public forum and share their thoughts and ideas. We hope to cover topics such as:

  • Should Holliston build a new library?
  • Should the library stay downtown?
  • What are the pros and cons of the present building?
  • What types of services should the library provide in the coming decade?

Be sure to attend and give us your two cents!

Love that you are asking for feedback. Welcome a fresh view to what a library means to the community and how it potentially serves as a gathering place for all ages. Given so many competing priorities and the use of electronic media at our finger tips have certainly changed the objectives & use of a town library. I’d love to see a concept that integrates with other town resources such as the Rec Center, Town Hall and even the possibility of combining the High School library with a community library (why not while we contemplate a new HS at least some day). I’ve even seen a concept/buildout of a town library combined with a local fire department into one building. A new (old) stand alone library vs an integrated concept that combines resources might be something worth considering. 100 miles of water pipe, a new HS and cost of maintaining existing services we presently have in town will be tough to overcome IMHO.
