Holliston Police Department Monthly Overview: October 2019

Personnel Highlights:

On October 7, 2019, Lieutenant Leurini began a six-week “Executive Development” training seminar through Roger Williams University.

On October 7, 21, and 28, 2019, all members of the department participated in annual range qualification training at Hopkinton Sportsmen’s Club.

On October 10, 2019, Lieutenant Thompson and Sergeant Dalrymple attended a half day seminar entitled, “Pre-Incident Stress Debriefing for Command Staff” at Tufts University in Medford, MA.

On October 15, 2019, Administrative Assistant Kelly O’Rourke reached one (1) year of service with the Holliston Police Department.

On October 17, 2019, Chief Stone, Lieutenant Thompson, Detective Maguire, Officer Hagan, and Dispatch Supervisor Richards attended the Lowell Police Academy graduation ceremony at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Student Officer Hannah Ciavarra graduated from the class as the MIT Police “Honor Graduate” in memory of fallen MIT Police Officer Sean Collier.

On October 21, 2019, several members of the department attended the promotional/swearingin ceremony for Lieutenant George Leurini, Sergeant Todd Hagan, Officer Christopher Avey, and Officer Hannah Ciavarra. The ceremony took place in the upper Town Hall.

On October 23, 2019, Officer Filadelfo attended a one-day “Sex Offender Registry Board: Partnerships, Advancements, and Safer Communities through Collaboration & Training” seminar at the Department of Corrections Training room in Milford, MA.

On October 23, 2019, Sergeant Belson and Officer Avey attended a one-day “Use of Force/NonCompliance Report Writing” training class in Andover, MA.

On October 24-24 and 28-30, 2019, Officer Loftus and Officer Charette attended a forty (40) hour “Sexual Assault Investigator Certifications” course at the Berlin Police Department.

On October 29, 2018, Dispatcher James Ray reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department

On October 30, 2018, Officer Ethan Coakley reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

Community Relations

During the month of October, several members of the department participated in the “Pink Patch Project” that raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research. Members of the department were authorized to wear a “Holliston Pink Patch” on their uniform from October 1, 2019 through October 31, 2019.

On October 10, 2019, Lieutenant Leurini joined Director Winer from the Department of Youth and Family Services and participated in the monthly “Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coalition (HDAAC)” meeting at 1750 Washington Street, Holliston, MA.

On October 11, 2019, Lieutenant Thompson and Lieutenant Leurini attended a “Community Presentation” at the Lowell Police Academy. Student Officer Ciavarra presented on “Police Officer Suicide” to her academy class.

On October 15, 2019, Chief Stone and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brad Jackson attended an event with Governor Charles Baker and Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito at the Walsh Middle School in Framingham, MA. This event discussed school safety and security measures across the Commonwealth.

On October 21, 2019, Lieutenant Leurini worked with a crew from the Holliston Cable Access Television to create a public service announcement to help publicize our “Pumpkin Patrol” event at HPD.

On October 26, 2019, Officer Heney helped facilitate the bi-annual “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

On October 27, 2019, several members of the Holliston Police Department participated in the annual “Pumpkin Patrol” event at HPD.

On October 28, 2019, Chief Stone, Lieutenant Thompson, and Lieutenant Leurini attended the Special Town Meeting (STM) at the Holliston High School.

Upcoming Events

November 12, 2019 – The Holliston Police Department will be hosting a “swearing-in” ceremony at the police station for 3-year-old Declan Vail. Holliston Town Clerk Elizabeth Greendale will be “swearing in” Declan as a Holliston Police Officer at 3:00PM.

November – December 2019 – The Holliston Police Department will once again be participating in the annual “Toys for Tots” program. New, unwrapped toys can be donated in the front lobby of the police station 24 hours a day between the middle of November and the middle of December.

December 2, 2019 – The Holliston Police Association will be hosting their annual “Holiday Luncheon” at the Holliston Senior Center beginning at 12:00PM.

December 7, 2019 – Holliston and Ashland Police Departments will once again team up for our annual “Fill-A-Cruiser” event in Ashland, MA. Toys will be collected from 10:00AM – 2:00PM in front of the Big Lots store on Pond Street in Ashland, MA.
