Children’s Librarian Announces January Happenings

Jennifer Carlson, Children’s Librarian, announces children’s events at the Holliston Library for the month of January.  Below is a listing that includes ages welcomed as well as a brief description of each event.   For those unfamiliar with the library building, the lower level houses the children’s space.

Breaker Space  (ages 5 and up) Tuesday, January 7, 4:00-5:00pm

Come “break things” to see how they work!

All About Trains (all ages) Saturday January 11, 10:30am-12:00pm

Come create your own Island of Sodor!  We will provide the trains and the tracks; you will create the fun!

Just Dance Party (all ages) Wednesday, January 15, 3-5pm

Stop in and show off your dancing moves with Just Dance on the wii! This is a drop in program.

No School Movie Matinee (all ages) Friday January 17, at 12:00pm

Join us for The Lego Movie 2 (Rated PG, 106 minutes) Feel free to bring a picnic lunch! Popcorn will be served.

Self Esteem Through Art Presents A Winter Wonderland Art Class with Jenn Pipe (Grades K-2) Tuesday, January 21, 4:00-5:30pm

Movie And A Craft Saturday January 25, 10:30am 

Stop in to see Giggle, Giggle Quack, based on the book by Doreen Cronin (Rated G, 10 min) followed by a craft!

Music and Movement with Deb Hudgins (ages 0-5) Tuesday January 28, 10:15am

An interactive program of singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and listening to a story. Funded by a gift in honor of Constance O’Dell.  Feel free to drop in!

Paws for Reading Meet & Greet  (All ages are welcome.) Tuesday January 28, 5:30-6:30 pm

Stop in to meet our local therapy dogs that will be coming in once a month!  Paws for Reading will be on the 4th Tuesday of the month starting in February. This program will be for children grades 2-6 to come in and read for 15 minutes to a non-judgmental and attentive listener.  Signups for February 25 will begin at the Meet & Greet.

Drop-In Play GroupTuesdays and Fridays, 10:15am-12:30pm

Make new friends, have a cup of coffee and play with toys provided by the library.  Except Tuesday, January 28 and February 25–Stop in to see Deb Hudgins instead!

Lego Club  (Ages 5 and up) – Every Thursday, 4-5 pm

Tales and Tunes for Tots  (Ages 1-4 & siblings) Wednesdays, 10:15—10:45 am

YMCA:  Play, Learn & Grow  (Ages 0-8 and caregivers) Mondays, 11:00am-12:00pm

The literacy-based playgroup includes a feature book themed activity, sensory and manipulative play, gross motor activities, circle time with stories and songs, and a spot for babies to play and explore! Each week Project ABC brings new and exciting themes to the playgroups, focued on STEM and STEAM activities.
