Holliston Police Department – November 2019

Personnel Highlights:

During the month of November, all sworn members of the department completed six (6) hours of “CPR/AED/First Responder” training as required by the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) as part of our annual in-service training program.

On November 7 – 8, 2019, Sergeant Dalrymple, Sergeant Waugh, Sergeant Remkus, Officer Coakley, Dispatcher Richards, Dispatcher Ray, and Dispatcher Lodola attended a two-day “Active Shooter Dispatch Training” course at the Holliston Police Department.

On November 8, 2019, Lieutenant Leurini and Sergeant Hagan attended a half day seminar entitled, “Pre-Incident Stress Debriefing for Command Staff” in Haverhill, MA.

On November 18, 2019, Officer Felicia Filadelfo reached two (2) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

On November 19 – 21, 2019, Lieutenant Leurini successfully completed the final phase of Roger Williams University’s “Command Training Series: Executive Development Course” in Bristol, RI.

On November 21, 2019, Sergeant Waugh and Sergeant Remkus attended a half day seminar entitled, “Pre-Incident Stress Debriefing for Command Staff” at UMass-Worcester (Shrewsbury Campus).

On November 21, 2019, Officer Griffith attended a one-day “Property and Evidence Room Management” training seminar at the Hopkinton Police Department.

On November 25, 2019, School Resource Officer Woods assisted in the organization of an “Intruder Response Drill” at the Robert Adams Middle School.

On November 27, 2018, Officer Michael Woods reached six (6) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

On November 28, 2018, Sergeant Jonathan Remkus reached five (5) years of service with the Holliston Police Department.

During the month of November, Sergeant Hagan and K-9 Mattis completed their sixteen (16) hours of mandatory in-service training with the Boston Police K-9 Unit.

Community Relations:

During the month of November, the Holliston Police Department partnered with the “MetroWest Clothing Initiative” to collect donated clothing for those in need. A collection box was available in the front lobby of the police station for the month of November.

On November 4, 2019, Officer Loftus attended the annual “Toys for Tots” organizational meeting at the Holliston Police Department.

On November 12, 2019, members of the Holliston Police, Franklin Police, Hopkinton Police, Monson Police, Springfield College Police, Bentley Police, and Westborough Police Departments participated in a swearing-in ceremony for three-year-old Declan Vail. Declan is currently battling cancer and was sworn in as a Holliston Police Officer by Town Clerk Elizabeth Greendale and was given gifts from each of the police departments in attendance.

On November 12, 2019, Lieutenant Leurini attended a Holliston Drug and Alcohol Coalition meeting to discuss the Holliston Police Department’s Post-Vention procedures.

On November 14, 2019, Sergeant Dalrymple and Sergeant Waugh attended the monthly “Coffee with a Cop” event at the Holliston Senior Center. Information about our CPR/First Responder/AED training was presented to the seniors in attendance.

On November 19, 2019, Chief Stone and Detective Maguire attended the first annual “Veterans Court Holiday Luncheon” at the Framingham District Courthouse.

On November 20, 2019, the Holliston Police Department hosted the first annual “Veterans Appreciation Breakfast.” The event was attended by 35-40 Holliston Veterans. Information was presented about our jail diversion program, Veterans Court, and the “Young Marines” organization.

On November 27, 2019, Chief Stone, School Resource Officer Digiorgio, and School Resource Officer Woods attended the student “Pep Rally” at Holliston High School.

On November 30, 2019, Chief Stone, Sergeant Hagan, and K-9 Mattis attended the “Pictures with Santa” event at the Holliston Stroll. This is an annual fundraising event for the “Friends of Holliston Police K-9” organization.

Upcoming Events:

January 6, 2019 – Student Officers Parent and Hulme will begin training at the Plymouth Police Academy.

February 2019 (Date to TBD) – “Pizza with the Police” event.
