Children’s Library Activities for February

February brings some new activities as well as some favorites.  Be sure to check dates and times and whether sign up is needed.

Tinkertime (4 years and up)  – Tuesday, February 4, 4:00-5:00pm

Come test, tinker and play! This is a drop in program.

Family Movie Matinee (all ages)Saturday February 8, 10:30am

Join us for Snow Buddies! (Rated G, 1 hr 27 minutes) Feel free to bring a snack.  Popcorn will be served. 

Drop in Craft (all ages)Thursday, February 13, 11am-3:30pm

Drop in for a Valentine’s Day themed craft!

Are you going to be around for February Vacation?  Check out what we will be doing at the library during vacation week!

Family Game Night (all ages)Tuesday, February 18, 5:30-8pm

Board games and pizza! We provide the games and pizza and you provide the fun! This is a drop in program.  Funded by the Friends of the Library.

Karaoke Party (all ages)Wednesday, February 19, 1:00-4:00pm

Drop in for some Karaoke Fun!! Come sing some of your Disney favorites!  This is a drop in program so feel free to stop in any time!

No School Movie Matinee (all ages)Friday, February 21, 12:00pm

Join us for The Incredibles 2! (Rated PG, 2 hr 5 minutes) Feel free to bring a picnic lunch!  Popcorn will be served. 

Playful Engineers (5 years and over)Saturday, February 22, 11:00am

Jay Mankita will present a hands-on workshop in which participants will have a chance to design, build, test and play with Rube Goldberg “Machines” and other chain reactions connecting focused play with serious science.  Participants learn through demonstration and play, exploring basic force and motion physics as they build fun chain reactions with common toys and other ordinary material.  Funded by a gift in honor of Constance O’Dell

Music & Movement with Deb Hudgins (ages birth – 5 yrs)Tuesday, February 25, 10:15am

An interactive program of singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and listening to a story. This is a drop in program. Funded by a gift in honor of Constance O’Dell

Paws For Reading (Grades 2-6)Tuesday, February 25, 5:30-6:30 PM

Each child must sign up for a specific 15-minute time slot for “one on one” reading time with a Therapy Dog (Children must be able to read independently). Please make sure you bring something to read, or arrive a little early to pick out some books! Please sign up at the desk for a 15-minute time slot. Signups will begin during the Meet & Greet on Tuesday, January 28.

Mindfulness for Kids (ages 7-10)Wednesday, February 26, and March 4, 4:30pm 

Pamela PinterParsons from Soul Spirit Studio will give children the tools to help with stress reduction, focus and anxiety.  We will explore yoga, movement and mindfulness and learn a variety of meditation techniques. Classes are high energy and deep relaxation!  

Funded by a gift in honor of Constance O’Dell. 

Sign up at the desk starting January 27.  Limited to 14.

Tales and Tunes for Tots (Ages 1-4 & siblings) – Wednesdays. 10:15-10:45 am

Drop In Play GroupTuesdays* and Fridays, 10:15am-12:30 pm

Make new friends, have a cup of coffee and play with toys provided by the library. 

*Except January 28 and February 25 (Join us instead for Deb Hudgins at 10:15am)

Lego Club  (Ages 5 and up)Every Thursday, 4-5 pm

YMCA Play, Learn & Grow (Ages 0-8 and caregivers) Mondays, 11:00am-12:00pm The literacy based playgroup includes a feature book themed activity, sensory and manipulative play, gross motor activities, circle time with stories and songs, and a spot for babies to play and explore! Each week Project ABC brings new and exciting themes to the playgroups, and are now focusing on STEM and STEAM activities.
