Holliston Alums Lace Up Their Skates for Coach Mantenuto

The old meets the new this Saturday afternoon at Loring Arena in Framingham.  At 1:20 pm, the Holliston High School Hockey Alumni will return to the ice, to chase pucks and dreams as they did in years gone by.

Former Coach Ed Mantenuto will then be honored, participating in a ceremonial puck drop prior to the current Panthers 2:30 pm encounter against Bellingham.

Mantenuto is remembered as the man behind the bench for the Panthers during the 1980’s, guiding a number of talented teams into the state playoffs. He also coached many top American amateur teams in multiple European tournaments.  An Assistant Principal at the High School, he suffered a stroke that left him unable to speak for a number of years, before eventually recovering.

He received the George Daly Special Recognition Award last September at the Enfield Connecticut Athletic Hall of Fame, for the success he achieved in establishing the hockey program at Enrico Fermi High School in 1973.  “He is truly an awesome human being” stated former player Joe Natale.
