Trail Bench Sitters Wanted

Benches along the Holliston Rail Trail are a pleasant addition.  As we walk, ride or jog along the many miles of trail, benches invite us to stop and sit while enjoying the moment.  Yes, benches are for sitting.

The bench program is facilitated by the Friends of the Holliston Rail Trail as a fundraiser for trail maintenance and improvements. Benches are purchased by individuals and installed by the Holliston DPW and a monument company.

The inscriptions on benches often honor and remember someone who loved the outdoors.  These memories do not mean “No Parking (or sitting).” Instead they mean “Enjoy where you are, and sit if you wish.”  Please sit on any bench you see along the trail – all of the benches welcome you as a visitor.

Not surprisingly, all the available sites for benches have been utilized between Blair Square and Cross St.  But, rest assured, there are plenty of locations on other sections of the trail.

So, as you use this multipurpose recreational trail, stop and sit on the benches.  They are meant to increase your enjoyment of this wonderful town asset.

No matter what season you’re out there, there’s always something to see and hear. Besides you’re getting great exercise as well. On that note, I think I’ll go sit down now and enjoy the view.

See you on the trail!

Please can I get information about the benches? I’d like to find out about getting one in memory of my son who passed in 2008. His grandmother used to live behind Bazel’s and he’d cut up through there to go to get food… could a bench be put near there for his memory… he used to spend a lot of time over at his Grammy n Grampy’s before he died.
