Holliston Police Monthly Update – February 2020

Personnel Highlights

During the month of February, all members of the police department attended six (6) hours of “Defensive Tactics” training as required by the 2019-2020 Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) in-service training program.

On February 4, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini presented the Holliston Auxiliary budget for FY21 to the finance committee. 

On February 10, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #6 at the Plymouth Police Academy. Both student officers spent the week successfully completing the 40-hour firearms training program as required by the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC). 

On February 10, 2020, Chief Stone and Lieutenant Leurini attended the Select Board’s meeting to support the Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coalition’s (HDAAC) efforts toward securing a “Drug Free Community Grant.”

On February 17, 2020, Student Officers Parent and Hulme began week #7 at the Plymouth Police Academy. Both student officers spent the week successfully completing the 40-hour Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) training program at Fort Devens as required by the Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC).

On February 19, 2020, Detective Maguire attended a monthly Jail Diversion Program (JDP) operations meeting at the Sherborn Police Department. 

 On February 26, 2020, Chief Stone and Holliston School Superintendent Dr. Brad Jackson attended a “Massachusetts Chiefs of Police School Safety and Security” meeting with area Police Chiefs and School Superintendents at the Methuen Police Department. 

 On February 19, 2020, Detective Maguire attended a monthly Jail Diversion Program (JDP) operations meeting at the Sherborn Police Department. 

During the month of February, Sergeant Hagan and K-9 Mattis completed their sixteen (16) hours of mandatory in-service training with the Boston Police K-9 Unit.

Community Relations

On February 1, 2020, Lieutenant Leurini, Officer Coakley, Officer Gonzalez, and Officer Grace attended the annual “Soup-er Bowl” event to help benefit the Holliston Pantry Shelf. 

On February 10, 2020, Chief Stone and School Resource Officer Woods participated in the “Community Reader” program at Miller Elementary School. 

On February 20, 2020, Sergeant Dalrymple hosted a monthly “Coffee with a Cop” at the Holliston Senior Center. The discussion for this month revolved around the area of crime prevention. 

On February 27, 2020, School Resource Officer Digiorgio participated in a Podcast with the Robert Adams Middle School Principal David Jordan and Assistant Principal Jess Beatie on school safety.

Upcoming Events

March 8, 2020 – Student Officer Parent and Student Officer Hulme begin week #10 at  the Plymouth Police Academy. 

March 19, 2020 – We will be hosting our monthly “Coffee with a Cop” event at the Holliston Senior Center with Sergeant Glenn Dalrymple. Part of the discussion will include information about “distracted driving in Massachusetts.”

March 18, 2020 – 5:00PM – 7:00PM – FREE EVENT – We will be hosting our first annual “Pizza with the Police” at Bazel’s Pizza. Please check the Holliston Police Department social media pages in the coming days for additional information. 

April 9, 2020 – We will be hosting our monthly “Coffee with a Cop” event at the Holliston Senior Center with Sergeant Dalrymple. We will be joined by the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s).    

June 3, 2020 – 12:00PM – 5:00PM – Children’s Hospital Blood Donation Event at the  Holliston Police Department.
