The Polls Are Open . . .

Today, four parties are holding Presidential Primaries and State and Local Committee seats are also on the ballot. The polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm.

The Democratic, Green Rainbow, Libertarian, and Republicans primaries being held today will determine how many delegates to the party’s national convention will be aligned with each candidate.

According to NBC News, each State Party determines how the delegates will be aligned.

There are 114 total Massachusetts’ delegates at stake in the Democratic primary. The delegates will be apportioned based on each candidate’s percentage of ballots. At the National Convention, 1,991 delegate votes are required to secure the party’s nomination.

The Republican party has 41 delegates up for grabs. All the delegates will be pledged to the candidate that gets the majority of votes across the Commonwealth. At the National Convention, 1,276 delegate votes are required to secure the party’s nomination.

Information about the number of Delegates at stake for the Green Rainbow and Libertarian parties was not available for this report.

The National Conventions where the Delegates select their party’s Presidential candidate will be held as follows:

  • Democratic Party – July 13 – 16, 2020; Milwaukee, WI
  • Green Rainbow Party – July 9 – 12, 2020; Detroit, MI
  • Libertarian Party – May 21 – 25, 2020, Austin, TX
  • Republican Party – August 24 – 27, 2020, Charlotte, NC

Don’t forget to vote for State Committee representatives – one male and one female / party. Also, Town Committee members are on the ballot.

This is where and when democracy happens. Don’t miss this chance to participate.
