Coaches Share Thoughts About Teams and 2020 Senior Players – Fall Sports

Contributed by Elexa Reiss, HHS Junior

As we are all living through interesting times, it is a good time to reflect on the impact the athletes from The Class of 2020 had on Holliston High School. Beginning with EEE and ending with Covid19, it was certainly an interesting year. There were lots of highlights in between, including State Championships and tournament appearances. As a way to appreciate these seniors, I have reached out to all Varsity Coaches at HHS to reflect on our amazing seniors and their dedication and commitment to their sport.

Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey

“When I think about the senior class I am graduating from for field hockey, I think about these ten special seniors and all the hard work they put into the program to make in an inclusive culture. Yes, I think about all the games we won and the goals that were scored, but more about the fun team bonding they had off the field: pasta dinners, the secret sikes, the Rumble Hockey games, the color wars, the TikTox, ordering thirty Frostys at Wendy’s post games states, being doused in bug spray because of EEE this fall, listening to Audrey Strock yell “Whatup Coach?” after a goal, listening to the captains’ pre-game speeches, running through the “youth tunnel” on senior night, taking bus rides with Coach Hickey listening to Justin Timberlake, and having a countdown to States and qualifying for the last four years.

“I have no doubt that this year’s senior class for Field Hockey will be missed, but I also know they will go on to do great things; they have such a bright future ahead of them.” – Alyssa Wesoly

Girls” Varsity Soccer

“The senior class has left a mark on Holliston Girls Soccer, back to back TVL titles, Sectional Championship, and a D2 State Championship. They really found their voices and their confidence as they progressed throughout their 4 years.

“This is a group I never had to worry about working hard or giving 100% in their effort and intensity. I have so many memories, but what sticks out the most will be how much they “wanted” every single victory, the rivalries within the TVL, the Silver Lake game, and the feeling in the locker room right before the State Championship Game. Class of 2020, you definitely exemplified–“Be phenomenal or be forgotten”– and you will never be forgotten. We love you!” – Brielle Chadsey

Boys’ Varsity Football

“I absolutely loved this group of Seniors.  They did absolutely EVERYTHING that was asked of them (from off-season through to the very last game). They were not only tremendous Football Players but also great, hard working kids that have an extremely bright future ahead of them.  They are certainly a group that have left their mark on their Holliston High School Football program.  We are going to certainly miss them!” – Todd Kiley

Boys’ Varsity Soccer

“I would love to wish all of my seniors the best of luck next year. Please know you all will be missed! You were an incredible group to have the opportunity to coach. You were back-to-back TVL Champions and the 2018 South Champions.  Good luck in your next chapter.” – Jay Dupis

Elexa- thank you for putting this together! You are a great example of our student body: thoughtful and caring students who are wise beyond your years. Well done! Congratulations to our seniors!!!
