While Mr. Ahern’s official start date is July 20, 2020 (also Town Meeting date), he shared some of his plans for the next few weeks and for the years to come.

Mr. Ahern shares some plans with the Board and the public.

He comes to Holliston from a role at the Metro-west Regional Water Authority and previous stints in Danvers and Weston.  His wife and he, along with two boys and a black lab, live in Wayland.

He was drawn to Holliston because of the exciting things that are going to be happening in the next several years.  Many critical decisions face the Town.  He plans a collaborative relationship among the Town’s departments.  To that end he will begin by reaching out to department heads in the next few weeks.

He has two goals for his tenure:

  1. To ensure accountability of the Town departments to the citizens.  Citizen are encouraged to contact Mr. Ahern (after July 20th) with concerns and comments.
  2. To improve communication among the Administrator and departments, and the public.  The frequency and content of the messaging will be as circumstances warrant.

The members of the Board individually welcomed Mr. Ahern and expressed their excitement about working with Ahern.  They thanked the screening committee for the many hours of time dedicated to selecting  Mr. Ahern.

Chair John Cronin wrapped up the session with a view of our Town.  It is a time of transition with a new Administrator and an Interim School Superintendent.  Cronin is excited by overcoming the challenges we face in this time of uncertainty.  Lastly, Mr. Cronin pledged the Board’s full support to Administrator Ahern.

The public on the Zoom meeting was invited to comment.  There were no takers from the audience.

The meeting adjourned at 7:12 pm.  An important twelve minutes for our town!

Congratulations. I hope you can help on a slight
problem. I am elderly. I am in a wheelchair. I live
alone. There is not a single mail box in town that I
can get to for sending out mail. Until recently I could
drive to the Holliston post office and drive up to two
of the post boxes because they had the arms on them.
Just recently those boxes where removed. So I can
not mail my items. At this point I will call the clerk
in the office to see if someone can come out to collect
my mail. Any suggestions on how I can get my mail
out? Also I can not get to my own mail box as it is
on a very busy street and I fear I could get hit by a passing truck or car as they speed down my street.
If your new post is not the correct office for my query
then perhaps you could advise me.
    Thank you.
