COVID-19: September 3, 2020 Update from Representative Dykema

September 3 Coronavirus Update

Throughout the pandemic, job losses, business shutdowns, and other economic disruptions have caused unemployment numbers in Massachusetts to increase dramatically. I’ve worked to provide regular, up-to-date information on the resources available through our state Department of Unemployment Assistance in this newsletter, but I also wanted to highlight another valuable resource for workers who may not be able to go back to work or have permanently lost their jobs.

The Commonwealth’s One-Stop Career Centers, also known as the MassHire system, offer a number of critical services to both individuals seeking employment and businesses looking to hire. Our community is served by MassHire Metro South/West, which is located in Framingham but whose offices are currently closed due to the pandemic.

Fortunately, MassHire has been offering regular virtual services for job seekers and you can find a calendar of free events (pre-registration required) online. You can also search for jobs online using MassHire’s JobQuest web page at any time. For more information, you can call (508)-861-7993 or email fccinfo@masshiremsw.com.
