HCAT Program Result of Much Collaboration

Tune into to HCAT Friday, September 11, 2020, at 7 PM for a showing of the historical documentary “Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare’s Shipwreck.”

Created by Andrew Giles Buckley, producer of “Hit and Run History” and “Through My Eyes”, this 90 minute film was written in honor of the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower.  It follows the story Stephen Hopkins, the only Mayflower passenger who had been to the New World before.  A decade earlier, aboard the Jamestown-bound Sea Venture, Hopkins and the other castaways lived for nine months on Bermuda before sailing for Virginia. Condemned to death for mutiny, Hopkins’ misadventures were immortalized in the drunken butler Stephano in Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

The program is supported in part by a grant from the Holliston Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural council, a state agency. The following groups have worked together to be able to share this program: The Holliston Public Library, the Holliston Historical Society, and Hit and Run History, in collaboration with HCAT.

There will be a question and answer session with Andrew Giles Buckley after the presentation. Enjoy taking a little known trip happening before the Mayflower’s voyage on Friday, September 11, at 7 PM.

Channels – Verizon 32 or Comcast 8.
