Give Back To Givers – October Volunteer of the Month

Jack Winston

Each Month, Give Back to Givers honors a “Volunteer of the Month” to highlight his/her service and dedication to the town of Holliston, and to show how important volunteerism is to the town. This month we honor Jack Winston.

1. What do you currently do as a volunteer?

Currently I volunteer with the Holliston Pantry Shelf. I sub in for shifts in the store front and participate in board meetings as a member of the Student Board.

2. What made you want to get involved with volunteering?

I wanted to start volunteering after watching my sister go through high school. She was so committed to all the clubs and activists she did and it was inspiring to see someone commit so much time to such great causes. She’s been a really incredible role model for me.

3. What is your favorite part of volunteering?

My favorite part about volunteering is hearing the stories from other volunteers and getting to work hands on with helping people. It’s really enjoyable to volunteer with people who are great to be around, and the Pantry Shelf definitely has a lot of people that match that description.

4. What have you gotten out of volunteering?

I’ve gotten a lot of great knowledge and wisdom out of volunteering. Aside from being a great all around experience, it is so beneficial to actually learn from people who have been running such a successful organization like the Pantry Shelf. I love learning from everyone on the board, not only about the customers but about the behind the scenes logistics of organizing and executing events for the Pantry.
