New Installations Thanks to Friends of Holliston Trails

Holliston Rail Trail has some awesome friends.  While the pandemic slowed the Friends of Holliston Trails (FOHT) down this past spring, they are busy this fall bringing more amenities to trail users. They have purchased and installed equipment for three exercise stations with money received from two sponsors. The equipment offers a more well-rounded workout in addition to biking or jogging. Phil Gibson installed the easily accessed, well-built equipment along the trail at Hopping Brook Road, Cross Street, and behind 330 Woodland Street.  Many thanks.

During this busy time, FOHT also installed a heavy-duty bike repair station donated by Milford Bicycle and FOHT. With leadership from Claudette and Mike Fowler, the station was installed recently at the Cross Street site.  It has tools for changing tires, wrenches for tightening, an air pump, and more.  Stop by and check it out.

Friends of Holliston Trails, Inc. is a volunteer, non-profit organization. Its mission supports the town-appointed Holliston Trails Committee by helping to maintain a safe and accessible trail, bringing neighbors together through community events, driving awareness of the trail in surrounding towns, and fundraising to support these activities. Recent projects include flashing lights at major crossings, “Share the Trail” signage to educate the community on trail etiquette, and the purchase of trail maintenance equipment. Perhaps best known for hosting the First Night Trail Walk on New Year’s Eve and the annual Trail Run, it’s apparent that its volunteer base is passionate about creating a trail experience for everyone to enjoy.

The FOHT brings about great projects for enhancing the trail for everyone. The group meets monthly and always seeks volunteers with new ideas to improve the trail.  We all benefit by making Holliston a welcoming and vibrant community.  Getting involved is easy.  RIDE on!
