Holliston Remembers Its Veterans – COVID Style

For the past several years, Holliston has observed the Veterans Day holiday with a public ceremony and veterans’ luncheon. The luncheon has traditionally been sponsored by Holliston’s American Legion, VFW and Lions. While the pandemic cancelled the public portion of the observance, the sponsors made sure our Holliston veterans were remembered with a delicious meal.

Stuffed Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Green Beans

Once again, the Legion, VFW, and Lions joined forces to deliver 62 meals to veterans in our community. The meals (above), prepared by TJ’s in Ashland, and paid for by the three groups, were accompanied by ice cream from TC Scoops and a goody bag of sweets provided by the Lions.

Legion and Lions member join Mr. Tomasz, owner of TJ’s before heading off around town.

At 11:00 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the group assembled to distribute the meals, treats, and dessert.

American Legion Post 47 Commander, Steve Bradford gets the distribution started.
Wendy Gove gives Legion Adjutant, Walter McGrath his meal. Lion Ged Gove is behind Walter.
The Lions’ members queued up their vehicles to be loaded for their carefully planned routes.

HCAT’s Bruce Gilfoy captured the action and audio in this clip -> https://www.hcattv.org/all-show-posts/2020/11/11/veterans-day-2020

Thank you Legion, VFW, and Lions members for keeping this tradition alive in this most difficult time.

We say thank to all veterans for your service and sacrifice to our nation!
