COVID-19: February 1, 2021 Update from Representative Dykema

February 1st COVID-19 Update

I hope you are staying safe, warm, and dry throughout this week’s winter storm. Please continue to take appropriate precautions, and if you experience power outages, you can report or check the status of an outage here for National Grid customers and here for Eversource customers.

As of today, February 1, individuals over 75 years of age are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are determined to be currently eligible for the vaccine, you can now sign up for an appointment online at maimmunizations.org or find a location at mass.gov/covidvaccinemap. However, supplies are extremely limited and many individuals have reported difficulty scheduling appointments online. As more vaccination sites open up, we expect that availability of appointments will increase, and I am working with my colleagues in the MetroWest and Central MA regions to increase the regional equity of vaccine distribution sites so more individuals can get vaccinated close to home. We have also communicated the need for increased resources for seniors facing difficulties getting vaccinated, most notably the lack of a phone hotline for seniors who do not use the Internet. This is an area where information will be changing quickly in coming weeks and I will be sure to keep you updated.

More information on the COVID-19 vaccine, including an updated schedule for phased distribution and frequently asked questions, can be found at mass.gov/covidvaccine. Questions related to the COVID-19 vaccine can also be emailed to COVID-19-Vaccine-Plan-MA@mass.gov.
